The GST, HST, PST or QST lines are captured as printed. That is a check on the calculation rather than a substitute for it, and it catches the odd item taxed differently than expected.

A full grocery bill rarely fits one frame. Photograph it in overlapping sections and the pieces are stitched into a single record.
Coupon lines reconciled
Coupon and discount lines printed on the receipt are matched back to the offers you clipped, so a saving is measured rather than assumed.

Use the camera button in the quick-add sheet. Several photos for a long receipt is fine.
Check what was read
Line items, tax and total appear for review before anything is saved. Fix a stray amount if the paper was creased.
Save it as spending
Confirm and it becomes a categorised transaction, with the image kept for as long as your plan retains it.
Why the tax lines matter here
A Canadian grocery receipt is not taxed uniformly. Basic groceries are zero-rated, prepared food is not, and a single shop routinely mixes both under one total. A tracker that stores only the total cannot tell you which part of the bill carried tax, so it cannot tell you what the shop really cost or where the tax went. Reading the printed tax lines and keeping them on the record is what makes the Subtotal, Tax and Total on every screen trustworthy.

How much does a receipt scan cost?
Two Maples. Maples are the monthly AI allowance included with every plan, and a photo scan costs two because it reads the whole receipt rather than answering a single question. Typing a purchase in by hand is always free.
Can I scan a long grocery receipt?
Yes. Photograph it in overlapping sections and the sections are combined into one record, so nothing is cut off at the fold.
How long are receipt images kept?
For the history window on your plan: 30 days on Free, 90 on Pro, 365 on Ultra. Images past the window are deleted by a scheduled sweep, while the transaction itself stays.
Where are the images stored?
In private cloud storage that is never publicly readable. The app serves them to you through short-lived signed links, so an image URL cannot be shared or guessed.
