Why "no invented prices" is a rule
A grocery app that lets a language model estimate a price will eventually tell you bananas are $0.59 a pound at a store that has never sold them for that. You find out at the till, and the whole tool loses its credibility. So the rule here is absolute: deal prices come from flyer data with a stored source link, and the AI is never allowed to produce a price. The AI has a different job, on a different page, comparing products by unit price once the real numbers are in hand.

From Canadian grocery flyer data. Every deal card keeps a link to the flyer it was published in, so the price can be verified at the source rather than taken on trust.
Does browsing deals use my Maples?
No. Grocery Deals involves no AI call, so there is nothing to meter. It is free on every plan and does not touch your monthly allowance.
How do I know a deal is actually good?
Each deal is compared against the Statistics Canada average retail price for that product in your province. A price below the provincial average is flagged, which separates a real discount from a normal price with a sale sticker on it.
How often do deals update?
Flyer data is refreshed for your area on a regular cycle and cached briefly so the app stays fast. Prices always show the flyer they came from, so you can see what period a deal covers.
