Spending

An expense tracker built for Canadian money

Log what you spend in seconds and see where it actually went. Every entry keeps its subtotal, its tax and its total, so your records match your receipts to the penny.

Available onAll plans

What you get

Tax on every line

Each transaction stores Subtotal, Tax and Total separately, calculated for your province. Most trackers store one number and lose the tax, which is the part you cannot reconstruct later.

Categories that fit Canada

Groceries separated from prepared food, because one is zero-rated and one is not. Utilities, transit, childcare and the rest arrive ready to use, and you can add your own.

Search, tags and private entries

Find any purchase by merchant, amount, tag or date range. Mark an entry private and it stays out of the shared household view.

Your data, exportable

CSV import and export on Pro, so you can bring history in from another app and take everything with you whenever you want.

How it works

  1. Add a purchase

Type the amount, or scan the receipt and let it fill in the merchant, date, total and tax for you.

  2. It lands in a category

Category and tax treatment are detected from what you bought. Correct it once and the correction sticks.

  3. Watch one number move

Every entry feeds Safe-to-Spend Today, so you see the effect of a purchase on the rest of your month immediately.

No bank connection, by design

MapleTrack never asks for your online banking credentials and does not connect to bank APIs. You enter purchases yourself or scan a receipt. That means there is no aggregator holding your login, no broken connection to reconnect every few weeks, and no third party with a copy of your account history. Everything is encrypted at rest and scoped to your household by row-level security in the database, not just hidden in the interface.

Common questions

  • Does it connect to my bank?

No, and that is deliberate. MapleTrack does not use bank APIs and never sees your banking login. You add purchases manually or by scanning a receipt, which keeps your credentials out of the picture entirely.

  • Is the expense tracker free?

Yes. Core tracking - transactions, categories, tags, search and receipt scanning - is on the free plan with a 30-day history window. Paid plans widen the history and add CSV import and export.

  • Can two people share one set of expenses?

Yes. A household holds 2 to 4 people who share transactions, budgets and goals. Any entry you mark private stays visible only to you.

  • Can I import from another app?

Yes, by CSV on the Pro plan. Export from your old tracker, map the columns once, and your history comes across with its dates and amounts intact.
