Why the benchmark is a public figure
Statistics Canada publishes average retail prices by product and province. Using that as the reference means "this is a good price" is a claim you can check against a public dataset instead of a number the app made up about its own deal quality. It also means a watch does not fire simply because a store raised a price last month and lowered it again, which is the failure mode of comparing a price only against its own recent history.
Common questions
How many watches can I have?
Every plan can keep watches active, and the cap is what scales with the plan. Paused watches do not count toward it, so you never have to delete history to make room.
Does a price watch use Maples?
No. Deciding whether a price beats the benchmark is arithmetic over flyer data and published Statistics Canada figures, with no AI call, so there is nothing to meter.
What counts as a good price?
By default, a flyer price below the Statistics Canada average retail price for that product in your province. You can override that with a specific target price of your own.
How will I be notified?
By email, sent when a matching flyer price is found. You can pause or delete a watch at any time, and pausing keeps it out of your active count.
